Frailea, Mammillaria — collector pot
Very small collector's cacti, sold in a 5.5 cm pot with a metallic sleeve and a species label. The ideal format to start a collection, fill a windowsill or give as a gift.
Light: very bright, morning direct sun is ideal.
Watering: a tablespoon of water every 2 to 3 weeks, in summer only. At this size the compost dries fast but the volume is tiny: water little and often rather than a lot at once.
Care: repot after a year into a barely larger pot — the roots dislike empty space.
Pets: not toxic to cats and dogs. The spines are still sharp despite the small size, and a 5.5 cm pot tips over easily under a paw: stand it on a stable shelf.
