Guides and advice

Our guides

  • Pet-safe indoor plants for cats and dogs

If you have a cat or a dog, choose first plants listed as non-toxic by the ASPCA, such as the spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum), the Areca palm or the camellia. Several very common plants are toxic to cats and dogs, including pothos, peace lily, snake plant, dracaena, kalanchoe and jade plant: keep them out of reach. All lilies are dangerous for cats.

  • Cat litter: clumping or absorbent?

Clumping litter forms balls around urine that you remove every day: it is the most economical to use. Absorbent litter holds urine without forming clumps and needs a full change more often. Eco-friendly litter, made from plant material, is lighter and often compostable depending on the product. In every case, use 5 to 7 cm of litter and one tray per cat, plus one.

  • Neutered cat: which kibble to choose

A neutered cat burns less energy and is often hungrier: without a change of diet it puts on weight. Switch to « sterilised » kibble right after the operation, weigh the amount printed on the bag, add a little wet food for hydration and check its weight every month.

  • Feeding your dog: what to give, what to avoid

The basis of a dog's diet is a complete food, kibble or wet: it covers all its needs on its own. Treats should stay a small extra, and some kitchen foods are dangerous for a dog, especially chocolate, grapes and raisins, onion and garlic, xylitol, and bones that splinter.

  • Dog kibble in Tunisia: choosing by size and age

To choose dog kibble in Tunisia, look first at your dog's adult size (small, medium, large), then its age: a puppy formula while it grows, adult after that, senior from about 7 to 8 years. Large breeds grow for longer and need a suitable growth food. The daily amount is printed on the bag, based on the dog's ideal weight and activity.

  • Cat kibble in Tunisia: how to choose

To choose cat kibble in Tunisia, start from your cat's age and lifestyle: a kitten formula until about 12 months, an adult formula after that, and a neutered formula if your cat is neutered or spayed. Then check that the label says « complete food », that the first protein source is animal, and pick a bag size your cat will finish within 4 to 6 weeks of opening.

Seasonal tips

Our care tips to look after your pets and plants, season after season.

Welcoming a new animal

Prepare a quiet corner, fresh water and food suited to its age. Give it time to settle in before introductions.

Everyday feeding

Stick to the recommended portions and keep regular times. Switch foods gradually, over a week, to avoid digestive upsets.

Water without drowning

Most plants prefer soil that dries slightly between waterings. Check with a finger: still damp on top, wait.

Light, in moderation

Bright but indirect light suits most indoor plants. Keep them away from draughts and scorching summer glass.

Repotting at the right time

In spring, when roots reach out of the pot, give a slightly larger container and fresh, species-appropriate soil.

Seasonal habits

In summer, shield plants and animals from the heat; in winter, water less and keep your companions comfortable.
