Variegated corn plant
Description
Dracaena fragrans Dracaena fragrans, often called the corn plant, forms a thick cane topped by a rosette of long arching leaves edged in golden yellow. It is one of the most forgiving houseplants: it tolerates missed waterings and the dry air of flats. Light: bright to partial shade — the yellow variegation fades if the plant is short of light. Watering: moderate, once a week in summer and every 2 to 3 weeks in winter. Let the surface dry between waterings; it hates waterlogging. Care: wipe the leaves, trim dry tips following the shape of the leaf. Pets: toxic to cats and dogs (saponins). Ingestion causes vomiting, sometimes with a little blood, and excessive drooling — in cats it can also dilate the pupils.
