Anthurium andreanum — flamingo flower
Anthurium andreanum flowers almost all year round: its lacquered red spathes last several weeks and are continuously replaced. Deep green foliage, compact habit, ideal on a table or a bright sill.
Light: bright, without direct sun.
Watering: keep the compost slightly moist, about twice a week in summer. Mist the foliage — this plant likes humid air.
Care: cut spent flowers at the base, feed with flowering-plant fertiliser every 3 weeks in spring and summer.
Pets: toxic to cats and dogs (calcium oxalates) — ingestion irritates the mouth and throat. Place it up high if your pet nibbles plants.
